PUBLIC LIABILITY AND INSURANCE

Professional Services offered by Association and Peak bodies including rock climbers and canoeists may assist with industry specific matters.

Australian Camps Association provides access and negotiation services for members in terms of insurance and public liability.

Refer to the document titled “Public Liability and the Outdoor Industry” for more detailed information on the insurance policies and programs.

Key requirement

Insurance policies covering public liability and workers’ compensation are required for all voluntary workers and employees. Contractors and subcontractors are required to have adequate public liability insurance.

Checklist:

  • There is insurance cover for each volunteer worker.
  • There is public liability insurance at least to the amount recommended by the [sport and recreation or outdoor industry’s] insurance broker.
  • There is workers' compensation insurance for employees or “deemed” employees.
  • Contractors have adequate public liability insurance.
